Get to Know Me
Kathy Acosta Figueroa, LCSW
Coach · Practice Owner · Community Builder
I've spent my career building teams, systems, businesses, and communities. I want therapists to have the knowledge most of us never get taught.
I'M A BUILDER. I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN.
As the oldest daughter of a first-generation family, I learned early what it means to figure things out without a roadmap. No one in my family had gone to graduate school or owned a business. I was the first, and I carried that with me into everything I built next.
Before I became a therapist, I spent nearly a decade in corporate operations, building teams, creating systems, and helping a company grow and expand. I learned what it takes to run something that actually works, not just in theory, but day to day, when things are messy and complicated and the answer isn't obvious.
When I started my own private practice, I thought my business background would make it easy. It didn't. I still felt the overwhelm. I still had moments of wondering if I was doing it right. But I had tools most therapists don't, and that made all the difference.
Seven years later, I'm running a group practice with a team of 8 clinicians and a 4-person admin team, a membership community, and this coaching business. I didn't build any of it alone, and you shouldn't have to either.
Here's what I've built and what I draw from when I work with you:
Who I Am
Being Latina shapes everything about how I coach
I am a first-generation Latina LCSW, the first in my family to go to graduate school, the first to own a business. I know what it feels like to navigate professional spaces without seeing yourself reflected, to carry the weight of being the one who figures it out, and to wonder if you belong in rooms you absolutely belong in.
That lived experience shapes how I show up as a coach. I understand that for many of the therapists I work with, building a business isn't just a financial decision. It's a deeply personal one tied to identity, family, culture, and the communities you serve. I hold all of that with care.
Through the Latinx Practice Collective, I've also built a community specifically for Latinx mental health professionals, because having a space that truly gets you changes everything.

What it actually feels like to
work with me
My coaching isn't one-size-fits-all. It's built around where you are, what you're building, and who you are. Here's what you can expect:
PERSONALIZED & ACTIONABLE:
We build a plan around your goals, not a generic template. Every session moves you forward on something real and specific.
WARM & DIRECT:
I'll be in your corner completely and I'll also tell you the truth. Both things are how I actually help you move forward.
CULTURALLY INFORMED:
Your identity, values, and lived experience are part of the conversation, not separate from your business goals.
REAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Plans are only useful if you follow through. I'll keep you honest, with empathy not pressure, so things actually get done.
